Supporting the propagation, preservation and protection of wildlife in Australia
and the conservation of its habitat

"Birdata is the way we collaboratively and scientifically collect data to gain insight and protect Australia's birds"

The Birdata site is Birdlife Australia's portal that allows electronic input into the different Birdlife Australia information gathering activities.

The Foundation, through successive grants, funded the original Birdata website (2004-2006) to facilitate for the first time the input of data via a computer, and later the Birdata App (2014) to allow input from tablet devices.

The Birdata site hosts the Bird Atlas. The over 20,000 bird watchers from all over Australia input sighting data via the Birdata site or App to build up a comprehensive scientific analysis of the distribution of bird species by location and time throughout Australia.

It is an invaluable scientific resource that involves the whole birding community and is available to all researchers.
